Google finally launched Android 11 for the developers to build services and apps for the new Google phone. The developers can easily download the preview 1 version at developer.android.com that will include the SDK for Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 4XL, and Pixel 4 including Android Emulator.
Android 11 developer preview 1 has included a number of major advantages such as conversation improvements, 5G experience, privacy and security, Neural Networks API 1.3 App Compatibility, Camera and image improvements, Connectivity, Google Play System Updates, and Low Latency Tweaks.
There are many other features of the Android 11 developer preview including:
#1 Chat Bubble
The famous chat bubble that was expected in Android 10 is finally out in Android 11 preview. It is ideal for a chat or messaging apps, and notification that uses Bubble API to keep conversations easy and accessible.
#2 Notification Shade
The preview has a dedicated conversation section that allows messages to work on the notification shade. It makes accessing other messaging apps easy while enjoying the ongoing conversation.
#3 One-Time Permission
Android 10 introduced the app handling feature and Android 11 is not different. It is easy to change the one-time permission anytime for any app including camera, microphone, and location. The users need to re-approve the permission once the app is closed.
#4 Send Images
The message changes also include sending an image to the recipient directly from the notification. There is no need to reopen the app again and again. However, it will only be applicable if the copy/paste option is supported by the respective app.
#5 Mute Vibration With Camera
It is common to hear vibration sounds while watching a video. The vibration can interrupt the smoothness of the image or video resulting in annoying the user. In order to prevent it, Android 11 has new mute vibration APIs. The API mutes alarms, ringtones, and notification if the camera is on.
#6 Scoped Stored
The scoped storage made Google feel the support of many developers for Android 10. This feature offers data security, prevents access to personal information from unwanted apps, reducing clutter from malicious apps, and so on. In Android 11, the scoped stored is enhanced and will offer better protection.
#7 Biometric Authentication
The Android 11 developer’s preview offers fingerprint sensors that can facilitate the sensors easily. The BiometricPrompt will include different types of authentication factors such as weak, strong, and device credentials. This is to enhance phone privacy and seamless application integration of the app.
#8 Mobile Driving Licenses
With the digital era, everything has become a part of our mobile phone, either it is payment wallets or boarding passes. Android 11 will digitize driving license as well with the retrieval of sensitive ID documents and support secure storage.
However, it follows rules, regulations, and red tapes that made it essential to get through government policies. Since the government doesn’t have any driver license norm for digitalization, Android users need to wait until it is in the market.
As soon as the government passes the digitalization of driving license, Android 11 users will be able to access it all.
#9 Compatibility With Waterfall/Pinhole Displays
The display types are extremely common to witness. The bezel was eliminated with the launch of Notches supported with Android 9 Pie. In Android 11, the screen design vicinity is increased and will be able to support Pinhole or Waterfall Displays.
#10 5G Support
5G is the talk of the town for the past year and has taken a step up in the next-gen wireless standard. Android 10 phones were able to get connected with 5G and now Android 11 will become better to offer enhanced user experience.
The Dynamic Meterdness API is the notable thing that makes it easy to connect to an unlimited 5G connection. It offers access to high-resolution graphics and videos at amazing speeds. Android 11 will also make a major addition to the market in the form of Bandwidth Estimator API.
It is to simplify the upstream and downstream bandwidth for the 5G connection.
These are some of the major features that Google Android 11 will bring to the table and change the way developers work on apps.
Google released the developer versions for the fifth year in the row that was released in March. The other versions include Android Nougat (Android N), Android Oreo (Android o), Android Pie (Android P), and Android 10 (Android Q). It also launched the Android Beta Program last year that allows early build on selected devices.
However, the latest version is only for the developers with no first preview as a beta. In brief, no early adopters can use Android 11.
