- Currently, Jacquard is available on specific Levi’s coats and a Yves Saint Laurent Knapsack.
Tech giant Google is coupling up with Adidas’ soccer arm and Electronic Arts Sports’ FIFA Mobile brand for its product- Jacquard. This techy collaboration revolves around Google’s touch-sensitive fabric designed by Levi. Jacquard is currently available on certain Levi’s coat and a Yves Saint Laurent knapsack.
The collaboration has been shown through a short GIF teaser tweet starring Adidas, FIFA Mobile along with Jacquard logos with a tagline “Play Connected”. March 10 has been announced as a date for more in-depth details.

What is Project Jacquard?
Launched between 2016-2017, Jacquard under Google’s Roof unites with crafting company Levi’s for making its signature Commuter trucker jackets. The jackets will be designed with a woven cuff, touch sensors and Bluetooth-enabled band embedded within.
Furthermore, the washable band can be connected to the smartphone while allowing users to swipe up or down on calls and notifications. It also enables one to trigger actions.

Moving on, the jacket’s mechanism turns a portion of the fabric into a touch-sensitive remote control for smartphones. With it, users can program up to four different taps and swipes for dozens of tasks. The tasks generally involve play/pause music, silencing the phone, setting up the phone to read off the time, appointments or pinning map. Just like Google’s conversational AI Meena, Jacquard jacket lets users use the phone for giving details about Uber or toggle noise cancellation on Bose headphones.
Google is in the habit of launching new technologies like Blindingly white re-design, hence, the product Jacquard has a small light. The small light is meant to notify about things without the need to look at the phone’s screen. It charges through Micro USB (boo) with the battery last long as the older one.
Clubbing everything together, the product which is expected to be launched on March 10th is an initiative to add sensors and web connectivity. The connectivity can be made with bags, clothes, and other fabric made things. Though there are no in-depth details about the product but there are hazy chances of it being related to soccer.
