WWDC 2020 starts off with the announcement of iOS 14 and many software updates. The most trending tech event from Apple Inc. unveils some crucial upgrades with their devices. As we have shared all the announcements in our WWDC day 2 and day 1 posts, today’s highlights are a mixture of demos and revelations.
Let’s get started with the latest updates at the conference:
AirPods Pro Updates are already live!
As Apple announces iOS 14 along with some crucial updates with the software, there are plenty of changes in the AirPods Pro features as well. The update allows wireless earbuds to switch between different Apple devices by detecting streaming media. Among the top iOS 13 features in the software, it was expected. And now, the company included it with iOS 14 for a better sound experience.
The Air Pods updated feature detects the audio input being played in the device. For instance, if the Pods are connected to the iPhone and the user is playing a media on iPad then it will automatically switch to the device. Again, it will switch back to the iPhone when a call is coming for audio input.
The automation with AirPods Pro will definitely amaze users as they don’t need to huddle for its connectivity with different devices. Moreover, it also comes with the ability to control surrounding voices and make lower sounds more crisp and clear for better detailing.
SwiftUI supports entire app development
The biggest announcement of WWDC 2020 day 3 was the new App protocol of SwiftUI. Developers will be able to fit together scenes, views, and other elements while building iOS apps. Using the new command modifier, new features and functions can be added during iOS app development.
Moreover, with the new SwiftUI update, developers can build document-based apps using different grids, stacks, and outlines. A complete introduction to Swift app development for iOS is now available to help communities for better understanding.
The new SwiftUI update also allows building enhanced apps not just for iPhones, but also for macOS, Apple TV, and other devices. iOS developers can discover and utilize new visual effects, controls, widgets, and styles.
EV Battery Tracker for Apple Devices
As the session of WWDC 2020 day 3 moves further, Apple announces some updates with EV batteries as an initiative towards environmental goals. They took a giant-leap by unveiling this update that allows users to keep track of the electric vehicle’s battery status.
This integrated feature is available in Apple Watch and macOS devices through which they can track battery status. So, this will be a plus-point for iOS developers as they can update the feature in their wearable app development projects.
For now, BMW and Ford automobiles will have access to this feature, but the Cupertino major assures to launch it for other vehicles as well.
PIP runs smoothly (demo video)
As the Apple company announces iOS 14 and its updated features, Picture-in-picture (PIP) mode was one of the major surprises. The feature allows users to do multitasking while streaming videos on the device.
With the help of the iOS 14 beta version, developers can see a live demonstration of the PIP feature. Co-founder of Nerdy Perspective, Stefan Ashley, posted a video on twitter to showcase the demo video of the PIP feature.
Latest Notification System for Refunds
Apart from the key updates and announcements for iOS user devices, Apple will soon launch an in-app purchase notification system. It will give notification to the developers about the requested and received refunds on an in-app purchase.
The convenience for developers will be arranged by the company as they can easily manage the canceled transactions or revoke the purchased orders. As the server will give them notifications about these processes, they can send alerts to customers about the refunds and remove the content.
According to the company, the key focus here is to have more control over customer interactions, making the process smoother while protecting the app’s economy
